Grand Saint Bernard region

The valley of the Grand Saint Bernard has a long history as its forests. It has always been the point of passage between the Alps and today it represents the point where sports, traditions and leisure meet. During Carnival, every village is a party; typical customs are inspired to the uniform of the soldiers of Napoleon, passed by in May 1800. Valpelline valley is a perfect place to discover the authentic charm of the mountain: with its beautiful scenery and ancient villages, Valpelline can offer real holiday in contact with nature. Those who love food can taste the typical "Seupa Valpellinentze" made ​​with black bread, broth, "fontina" and baked. Thoules is a very small village (bottom right in the photo here postponed). It is located at 1000 meters above sea level and 14 km from the city of Aosta. Skiing around Valpelline

The Valpelline is the paradise for ski mountaineering, but there are also four small ski areas: ease of paths makes them ideal for those who want to start any kind of skiing.

Good cross-country trails are located in the nearby villages of Bionaz and Ollomont. For downhill skiing, in twenty minutes you can reach Crevacol, ideal for families, and the Aosta - Pila cableway.

In Valpelline you can also go heli-skiing.

The Valpelline, finally, offers numerous itineraries with snowshoes.

Summer activities

Wonderful trips await the lovers of hiking and mountain biking. The different huts and bivouacs of the Grand Combin can accommodate climbers or anyone who just wants to have lunch in the mountains. For climbers equipped area has available to Ollomont, Gignod and Bionaz.
