Maison de Thoules
The origins
Toules is a place of passage. Long ago farmers came to Toules in spring and autumn, following the rhythms of vertical transhumance typical of the Aosta Valley: in low-altitude stables in winter and in mountain pastures in summer. This is still the case today.
For more than a century, Maison de Thoules was used as a barn and stable. Two modest rooms were used as a dormitory and kitchen. The house then remained uninhabited for a long period.
The perimeter walls and many recovered materials remain from the original structure: bolts, old wood, mangers, scales and other objects of rural life that now adorn the walls of the house.

The restoration
Since 2000, Mario and Elvira, Paola’s parents, have worked with perseverance and dedication to bring the house back to life. Without haste, and with the support of the whole family, the house took shape. In 2006 it was opened to guests.
The house now consists of three apartments, a tavern and a wine cellar. Two apartments are available to guests.
A house lives when it is inhabited: we strive to care for it and make it beautiful in every season. It is our place of rest and recreation. We hope it will be yours too.
